Calexico will launch a second leg of US touring in support of their “unassumingly perfect” (UTR) new album, ‘Algiers’ (Anti) in January. The band’s current tour is earning rave reviews at every stop, with The Philadelphia Inquirer calling the show “a five-star affair” and the Chicago Tribune dubbing them “a band not just at the peak of its powers, but at the apex of its musical curiosity as well.” See below for full dates, including the final stretch of their current fall tour and three headlining shows with Yo La Tengo in Atlanta (1/25), Louisville (1/29), and St. Louis (1/31).

‘Algiers,’ which core duo Joey Burns and John Convertino wrote and recorded in a converted church in the outskirts New Orleans neighborhood for which the record is named, is the band’s first album in four years and a critical favorite. The Wall Street Journal called Calexico “one of America’s great bands,” Mojo described the record as “the album of their lives,” and Pitchfork called it “impeccably conceived and imaginatively crafted.”
