Heckendorf’s diversity as a songwriter and performer is on display in three additional new videos that were just added to his YouTube page, including “One of Them,” “The Cool Down,” and a masterful cover of Dr. Dre’s “Forgot About Dre.”

“One of Them”:

This video was filmed in January of 2012 at the Caribou Ranch Recording Studio just outside of Nederland, CO and was the first recording in the studio since the control room burned down in 1985.  Caribou Ranch was home to recording sessions by artists such as Chicago, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Chicago, The Beach Boys, Chick Corea, Tom Petty, John Lennon, Kris Kristofferson, America, Billy Joel, among many others.

“The Cool Down”:

Filmed and recorded live during Zach Heckendorf’s packed headlining show at The Gothic Theatre in Denver, CO on December 29, 2011.

“Forgot About Dre”:

Zach Heckendorf covers Dr. Dre’s “Forgot About Dre” in the middle of Denver’s unusually vacant Mile High Stadium.

With The Cool Down, Zach Heckendorf has come out of the gate with a solid debut that flaunts his distinctive voice, jaw-dropping guitar talent, and knack for crafting sophisticated melodies and rhythms.  Heckendorf delivers a rich, acoustic-driven sound, one that takes its cues not only from his love of hip-hop, but also from one of his main influences, soul pioneer Ray Charles.

Heckendorf began writing songs for his latest album as a freshman in high school and making a name for himself locally around Denver as a live performer. He has shared stages with John Butler Trio, Brandi Carlile, Guster, Barenaked Ladies, and Jakob Dylan.
