The first decade of adulthood is marked by massive change and growth and working through it has only become more difficult with the advent of social media. chloe mk’s unique brand of “internet-pop” navigates what it means to be young and alive in the digital age and the vast range of emotions that come along with it.
Born and raised in Nashville, chloe mk found an identity in classic rock and cut her teeth playing in small clubs and bars before auditioning for a spot on NBC’s The Voice. After winning the show in 2017, she relocated to New York City and signed a record deal with Republic Records. Her debut EP, Fantasy, might seem like a departure from her original sound, but it’s a more transparent representation of the singer than anything she’s done to date.
“I’m willingly walking into the beast of pop music,” says chloe. “It’s completely different from anything I’ve done before, but it’s exactly where I want to be. I really want to portray the stories of my actual life, and I think that’s kind of the beauty of pop — it transports you into the artist’s world and shows you how they see things.”
chloe mk’s songs capture the complexity of the journey toward self-discovery, pairing honest and deeply introspective lyrics with music that teems with optimism and energy. She excels at creating this prism-like fulness on tracks like “To Be Young,” a song about being lost and not wanting to be found, just living.
“Every listener can find their personal truth in this song… in all of these songs. Each track is laced with a euphoric, hyper-real sensation of what it means to be young. And what it means to be alive today.”
