Battle Lines follows Bob Moses’ acclaimed debut album, Days Gone By, featuring their worldwide hit “Tearing Me Up.” The band—Vancouver-bred, Los Angeles-based Tom Howie and Jimmy Vallance—recorded the new album in Los Angeles’ Laurel Canyon, after writing and testing out new material on the road. Inspired by their time playing raves and rock clubs all over the globe since the release of Days Gone By, Battle Lines takes a harder look at the world in which they find themselves.
Critical praise for Battle Lines…
“A killer sophomore album…Battle Lines is a beautiful ode to troubles of all kinds. It kicks out the gate with a groovy, almost industrial rock feel that may shock some die-hard fans, but it only whets our appetite for more.”—Billboard
“Battle Lines…takes on how and why struggles occur both without and within and looks to identify the cause of the suffering – all the while offering grooves for dancing as catharsis.”—WNYC’s Soundcheck
“The marvelous evolution of Bob Moses continues…”—Dancing Astronaut
“A refreshing update to their sound”—Nest HQ
“A proper album odyssey”—Magnetic Magazine
“Their fierce record glistens with amazing hooks and steady beats that
really captivate listeners.”—Northern Transmissions
“Album opener ‘Heaven Only Knows; has the same boisterous stadium melancholy that Chris Martin and co. might use to slay a boggy Glastonbury Festival, while ‘Listen to Me’ is a wonderful earworm mix of fragility and defiance.”—Pitchfork
