Crywolf New Album widow [OBLIVIØN Pt. I] Out Now US Tour Starts Kicks Off Today In San Francisco
March 22, 2019
After a series of trials and tribulations, Crywolf’s highly-anticipated full-length album, widow [OBLIVIØN Pt. I], is out everywhere today. The 16-track albumwas birthed from a period of depression, anxiety, and hopelessness. Crywolf offers a glimpse into his psyche, telling a vulnerable story with each track.
In the midst of creating the album, Crywolf was forced to take a pause after getting an entire album’s worth of music and over $5,000 worth of gear stolen while abroad in Chile. Persevering through the heartbreak, Crywolf headed to Patagonia, where he began to write in a small wooden cabin in the Huilo Huilo rainforest, a place rumored to be haunted with thousands of lost souls. Back in the US, Crywolf continued his musical journey by visiting Twin Peaks, the Blue Ridge mountains, Reno, and the forests of Vancouver. His fascination with the unknown has been a driving force behind his artistic identity. Crywolf calls this period of writing and traveling his ‘quarter life crisis’ and refers to himself during this time as a “widow,” a word associated with great pain and loss. Despite the troubles he ran into while abroad, he persevered and continued to make some of his most beautiful to date.
Crywolf challenges the notion that an artist must fit into any one genre. He ruthlessly colors outside of the lines, creating an unique and often indefinable sound. With millions of streams across his discography and press praise from the likes of The FADER, Consequence of Sound, Alternative Press, and Complex, widow [OBLIVIØN Pt. I] is sure to be another much-loved release from Crywolf.
In support of the album release, Crywolf will be heading back on the road with a headlining US tour, beginning tonight in San Francisco:
