October 20, 2023 – Today, Detroit pop-rockers Mac Saturn announces their highly anticipated debut album Hard To Sell, set for release on January 26, 2024, on their own label, Saturn Sounds. The announcement comes alongside the official studio release of the fan-favorite track, “Get On The Phone.” Powered by a slinking bass line and glittering synths, “Get On The Phone” is a quintessential Mac Saturn jam – a sultry character study that’s equal parts glamorous and gritty – and a perfect introduction to the neo-noir vignettes that make up Hard To Sell.

Produced by The Rust Brothers at Rust Belt Studios – the famed Detroit studio where beloved rock records by Greta Van Fleet and Mark Foster (Foster The People) were born – Hard To Sell is infused with the spirit of the Motor City. As drummer-turned-frontman Carson Macc, who sings with the assurance and swagger that’s as much Harry Styles as Mick Jagger, puts it: “The songs are rock, but they’ve got that other thing going on — that funky, dancey, Motown groove — that makes them our own thing.”

The album kicks off with a firecracker: recently released earworm “Mint Julep,” in which Macc passionately urges that love should be worth fighting for, underscored by funk-driven guitars and punctuating synths. (The music video finds Macc getting a little more than he bargained for.) From there, timeless themes of the loss of love, youth, and innocence run through the filter of neo-noir vignettes filled with femme fatales, sharp-dressed delinquents, and notorious pool sharks. Between the nostalgic imagery of Detroit Rock City and the fresh energy in these songs that make dancing an irresistible impulse, it’s no wonder that the Michigan Daily praised Mac Saturn as “the past, present, and future of rock n’ roll.”

Completing the Mac Saturn lineup are drummer Angelo Coppola, guitarists Mike Moody and Nick Barone, and pianist Evan Mercer on the keys. The band covered a lot of ground on its last year’s debut EP, Until the Money Runs Out, from the hip-swiveling “Diamonds” and “Mr. Cadillac” to the urgent punch of “Persian Rugs.” Since then, they’ve racked up millions of streams and become known for their electrifying live shows that harken back to the glitz and glam of 70s rock stars. Their sold-out headlining shows across North America are packed with fans singing along to every word – even to songs that haven’t been released yet – and their tours with The Struts and Dirty Honey have inspired even more people to enter Mac Saturn’s orbit. With more tour dates and new music on the way, it’s only a matter of time before we’re all drawn in by their gravitational pull.
