Khakikid Announces EP ‘Elevator Music’ & New Track ‘Sports & Tattoos’

Rapper and star on the rise KhakiKid releases his new tune, ‘Sports & Tattoos’, and announces his debut EP Elevator Music, set for release on September 1st. Hot on the heels of his tongue-in-cheek single ‘Woodstock’, KhakiKid cements himself as an undeniably fresh presence, capturing the essence of summer in his unique sonic world and marking him as one of the most exciting new artists to watch in 2022.

‘Sports & Tattoos’ showcases KhakiKid’s natural talent for honest and witty observations alongside bright, smooth, Anderson .Paak-style magnetism. 22 year old Abdu Huss aka KhakiKid speaks of his new track, “You know those mates of yours that should be a couple but just won’t accept it? They’ve been friends so long that they think it’d be weird to see each other but it’s obvious they’re both into one another. That’s what sports & tattoos is about. They can’t help but flirt with each other but always play it off as a joke. They’re afraid of making a move in case it’ll ruin everything.”

KhakiKid has had a whirlwind of a start to his career – exploding onto the scene less than two years ago, drawing in fans instantly with his alt-style and distinctive tone. Growing up in a large family in Crumlin, Dublin, sharing a room with 3 siblings, there was never a quiet moment. Huss had to grow up a lot quicker than most, and poured his heart into writing lyrics in his teen years and teaching himself to produce from his bedroom, influenced by the evolution of Mac Miller and the authenticity of Tyler, The Creator.

Following on from the artist’s sold-out 300 cap headline show in Dublin, previous singles ‘Shlumped Up’ and ‘Cozy’ have been greatly-received, with continued support from BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, ahead of his debut EP Elevator Music releasing in September. The GoldenPlec pick and District: Future of Irish Music 2022 selected artist is also set to perform at a host of summer festivals including Forbidden Fruit, Longitude & Otherside. With his refreshingly playful style of storytelling paired with smooth, personality-packed vocals, KhakiKid is just getting started.
