LA LOM SHARE LIVE AT THALIA HALL ALBUM ON VERVE RECORDS

September 12, 2025

LA LOM, the electrifying instrumental trio from Los Angeles, hailed by NPR for their ability to “transcend time periods and genres,” have shared the wide release of their first live album: Live at Thalia Hall. Originally issued as a Record Store Day exclusive earlier this year, the album captures the band’s sold-out March 2024 performance at Chicago’s iconic Thalia Hall and is available worldwide on LP and digital formats on Verve Records. To celebrate the release, the trio shares the electric performance video for “Lucia,” following the release of live performance videos for “Alacrán” and “Llorar.” Live At Thalia Hall is out now, featuring the bright red round stage, and the band fully surrounded by the audience in the round. Fans can listen & order the full album today.

The Thalia Hall show was a pivotal moment for the band. Speaking on the exciting live release, guitarist Zac Sokolowsays:

Our concert at Thalia Hall in March was a special night. Just a few months before, we had played a sold-out night in Chicago at the Empty Bottle. The crowd was so enthusiastic and the demand to get into that show was so high that we knew that Chicago was an important place for our music. A few months before that, we were still playing little bars and dance parties all over the city of Los Angeles and had no experience playing much outside of LA.

Having graduated to playing big theaters within a span of about 6 months, we had a strong desire to keep the energy of the tightly packed dance clubs in LA that shaped our music, no matter where we were playing. We accomplished that at Thalia Hall. We built a round bright red stage and put it right in the middle of the room. The hall was completely packed, and there were people on all sides of the round stage dancing and screaming loudly, even getting up on stage with us and dancing for certain songs.

Jacob Butler (sometimes referred to as the 4th member of LA LOM) has recorded all of the videos we have made from the start. He was there with us at Thalia Hall, shooting from all sides of the stage and capturing the crowd as well. We had a crew recording the whole thing on tape. What we were left with was really great live footage from one of our most exciting shows to date, and incredibly well recorded audio of the whole thing. It’s a combination of original songs (some of which were released on our debut LP later that year, some which haven’t been released yet) along with covers of classic cumbia from Colombia, Peru, and Mexico, along with an old soul ballad from Smokey Robinson. This is a lot of the music that shaped the sound of LA LOM.

ABOUT LA LOM

Short for The Los Angeles League of Musicians, LA LOM is composed of Los Angeles natives Zac Sokolow (Guitar), Jake Faulkner (Bass), and Nicholas Baker (Drums/Percussion). “Live at Thalia Hall” arrives as the band wraps up a series of performances at iconic venues such as Webster Hall, The Wiltern, and The Hollywood Bowl, as well as a European run that included iconic festivals such as Rock en Seine and Lowlands. They will be playing Austin City Limits and a southwest headline tour in the upcoming weeks. See below for more information on tour dates.

Prior to Live At Thalia Hall, LA LOM shared their critically-acclaimed debut album for Verve Records, The Los Angeles League of Musicians. The album seamlessly weaves together the diverse genres and cultures of Los Angeles. They find inspiration in the classic Mexican Boleros and the Cumbia Sonidera woven into the very fabric of LA’s soundscape, resonating through the streets from car stereos, backyard parties, and lively dance halls. Added to this is the guitar-driven twang of Peruvian Chicha, Bakersfield Country, traditional folk music from Sicily, Turkey and beyond, plus soulful ballads from the 1950s and ’60s that they grew up listening to on LA’s oldies station, K-EARTH 101, evoking the laid-back aesthetic that defines the region.

Laid back and lo-fi, they bottle up the energy of a crowded dance floor, a hot, sweaty night – songs that were designed to make you want to sway your hips. Listen to The Los Angeles League of Musicians HERE.
