THIS JOY OUT OCTOBER 16TH VIA RIGHTEOUS BABE
Race hatred cannot stop us, this one thing I know
Poll tax and Jim Crow and greed have got to go
You’re bound to lose
You fascists are bound to lose
The Resistance Revival Chorus recently announced their debut album This Joy to be released on October 16th via Righteous Babe Records. The have now shared their newest track and video from the album, a cover of the Woody Guthrie classic “All You Fascists Bound To Lose” with powerful lead vocals from GRAMMY-winning recording artist Rhiannon Giddens (of The Carolina Chocolate Drops). Originally written in the 1940s as WWII ravaged the world, Guthrie’s rousing anthem has a broader scope than simply encouraging the allies fighting against the Nazis overseas. The song calls out hatred, greed and systemic racism at home in the USA. 70+ years later it’s lyrics are as pertinent as ever.
“These women are doing the work! We must use our voices now more than ever to stand up against injustice, inhumanity, and inequality,” Rhiannon says of the track. “And fascism in any form is not welcome in our United States. I am honored to have had the opportunity to join these fabulous musicians on this anthem against authoritarianism.”

The album features original compositions along with protest classics and was recorded in New York City with GRAMMY-nominated producer Tiffany Gouché. The album is 100% created by women, non-binary artists and features special guests Giddens, Valerie June and Deva Mahal. Righteous Babe’s Ani DiFranco says of the Chorus: “The RRC is like an antidote to silence and submission. In this age of division and hopelessness, let us listen to their collective voice and get lifted. Let us remember who we really are.”
This Joy was recorded in New York City over the space of several months, with the chorus working around Covid-quarantine, and taking to the streets to protest for BLM. “Working with the chorus last year was one of the most healing and rejuvenating experiences I’ve ever had in my life.It was simply love manifested,” says Tiffany Gouche. “You can feel the joy and sincerity in their hearts through each and every record. I am truly blessed and humbled by this experience and look forward to anything that pertains to them.”
