Pumarosa have unveiled a thrilling new single, “Honey,” released on Harvest Records in the U.S.: listen HERE. “Honey” can be found on the band’s new self-titled four-track EP, which is also available today.

“Honey” is a bold and spirited stampede, marrying raw guitars, swirling electronics and singer Isabel Muñoz-Newsome’s battle-cry delivery. Produced by Dan Carey, the sonic twists and turns may have an almost otherworldly sense of exploration, but “Honey” is ultimately grounded in reality: angry, urgent, and wide-awake to what’s unravelling in the world around us.

The band have also announced a North American tour with Glass Animals which kicks off this month. Full routing can be found below. Pumarosa recently made their live stateside debut at SxSW this year, which Entertainment Weekly included in their “Best Things We Saw at SxSW” recap. Of the performance, the Chicago Tribune praised, “The London five-piece delviers Goth with a groove. Singer Isabel veers between high-pitched operatic tones and duskier textures.” U.S. fans will also have the opportunity to catch them live at a few special headline shows, including Rickshaw Shop in San Francisco, The Echo in Los Angeles, and Rough Trade in Brooklyn.

Pumarosa don’t define themselves simply through the music they make, however. United under their “Industrial Spiritual” ethos, the band’s control over their visual identity is becoming increasingly important: Isabel hand paints all of the artwork for the band, the “Priestess” video was choreographed by and features Isabel’s sister Fernanda, while the accompanying clip for “Cecile” utilised VR (Virtual Reality) to imagine how desire might lead us into other, quickly-changing worlds. Few other bands combine art, politics and progressive thought like this, and certainly not when they’re in their early stages. Yet everything goes hand-in-hand with Pumarosa, and on “Honey,” they’re taking you with them further still.
