Charlottesville // Digital Strategy Associate

Position Summary:

The Associate is responsible for facilitating the management of a selection of Red Light Management clients’ digital properties in a fast-moving, deadline-oriented environment. The position requires a passion for music, a big picture understanding of the ever-changing landscape of the music and tech industries as well as social media, a creative approach to problem solving, astute attention to detail and ability to generate and present creative content. S/he will take direction from and assist the Dir. of Digital Strategy, artist managers and other RLM Digital team members to fulfill RLM clients’ needs and requests.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain portions of specific artist sites and social networks: write text/post news items, tour dates, photos/videos, maintain set lists, tour archives, etc.
  • Schedule, implement, and manage web site, social media and fan club updates, promotions, contests for specific artists
  • Help manage artists’ mailing lists through Mailchimp, Topspin, Musictoday and other services (design templates, help create campaigns, perform list management, report on metrics)
  • Redesign/tweak artists’ Facebook, Twitter, Instagram pages as needed/requested
  • Generate digital content including admats, website and social banners, tour videos and teasers
  • Communicate directly with the artists to discuss their personal use of social media platforms, explain best practices and troubleshooting issues to encourage direct interaction with fans
  • Collect weekly social media stats in reporting template and compile/distribute them
  • Work with designers/developers to update and redesign artist web sites
  • Interact with venues, update concert listings, facilitate promoted tour date posts on socials, share promotional materials

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of social media platforms, email marketing applications, music streaming platforms, HTML, FTP clients, Adobe Creative Suite, Google docs, and supporting Microsoft office suite applications;
  • Strong writing skills critical;
  • Graphic design and/or video/image editing skills or a sharp design aesthetic;
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines;
  • Team player;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Solid organizational and time management skills;
  • Personal initiative, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset;
  • 2-3+ years working in a full-time position utilizing the skills referenced above. Experience working in artist management and/or general music/entertainment business experience is highly preferred.

Nashville // Community Manager

Position Summary:

The Community Manager position requires creativity and forward thinking marketing ideas. You will produce and coordinate the successful execution of various campaigns across all digital channels, marketing tours, recorded music and merch. Success in this position requires an artistic eye with excellent copywriting skills and a passion for marketing music. Essential Functions:

  • Represent the artist on social media by creating and posting daily content on all platforms to promote new music, touring and meet all other promotional needs. Must be a social media native and expert in Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram marketing.
  • Provide reporting / insights / analytics for clients and competitive analysis of campaigns as needed.
  • Communicate and work closely with artists, managers, labels, agents and promoters to ensure seamless execution of marketing campaigns.
  • Maintain artist website news and tour date listings.
  • Schedule and announce tour dates as needed across platforms.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends and technology and provide updates to internal team and clients.

Must have experience working with high profile artists. Minimum 1+ years in a similar role.

Must have sound knowledge of the electronic music scene and experience working with labels on music releases and coordinating & advancing tours/shows.

Responsibilities / job functions: Working across two managers

-Assisting with planning and implantation of artist music campaigns, including global release schedules, promo, social media plans, press, marketing and touring.

-International calendar management across multiple time zones, including promo schedules, travel bookings, sorting visas, accommodations, and itineraries.

-Act as key point of contact for all third parties, filtering information as needed to the artist manager and often acting as a central point for third parties to communicate/exchange information: record labels/publishers/agents/lawyers/business managers etc.

-Efficient daily communication and information flow with artist ensuring confidentiality and discretion at all times.

-Coordinating manager and artists daily diary

-Schedule calls, meetings, and conference calls between multiple parties in different time zones

Job requirements:

-Understanding of the digital landscape (Trends, hashtags, DSP’s, basic functions of important social sites, etc.) Familiarity with social media usage, Instagram, twitter, Facebook, Soundcloud, etc

2020 Internships in Charlottesville, New York, Nashville, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Seattle, and London

Red Light Management’s Internship Program is open to qualified and dedicated individuals in Charlottesville, New York City, Nashville, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Seattle, and London.

Applicants should have an interest in learning more about the music industry through the hands on experience of working in our management offices. This internship offers learning opportunities in the areas of management, tour marketing, publicity, radio and web promotion, graphic and web design, merchandising and tour promotion.

This internship is for current undergrad students.  If you need class credit we’re happy to work with you, but it is not required. Internships are unpaid and weekly hours are flexible.

Experience with Office / Google Docs is a must and some and graphic design knowledge is preferred. Specifically, we are looking for dedicated, hard working, high energy individuals, not afraid to take initiative.
