LIVE AT CRIMINAL RECORDS 01.01.13, the first-ever live album from indie-alt-folk band von Grey, will receive its wide release on May 7. Recorded on New Year’s Day 2013 at the famed Atlanta independent record store, the album was originally released on vinyl for Record Store Day 2013 and the band played a special set at Criminal Records to celebrate. “With freshly stocked shelves…and choice local acts like von Grey and Christ, Lord giving in-store performances, it was another year well-worth the line around the block,” said Paste Magazine. LIVE AT CRIMINAL RECORDS 01.01.13 charted at #33 on the Alliance of Independent Media Store’s Top Vinyl Sellers chart following Record Store Day.

The live collection contains twelve tracks, including eight previously unreleased songs. It will be available at all digital retailers. The vinyl edition, which includes a digital download of the entire recording, will be available at all independent retailers. “Atlanta alt-folk band von Grey is made up of four real-life sisters. Think of them like Mumford & Daughters,” quipped the “Conan” website. The unsigned band appeared on “Conan” during the show’s recent trip to Atlanta and appeared earlier this year on “Late Show with David Letterman” and in the online SXSW coverage with Kate Snow for NBC’s “Rock Center with Brian Williams.”

Now von Grey is heading west for a trio of performances. The band will perform during the opening session of NARM’s Music Biz 2013 conference in Los Angeles on May 8, at the Eclectic Music Festival in Ojai on May 10 and at Hotel Café in Hollywood on May 11. While in Los Angeles, von Grey will perform live in-studio on “AXS Live,” the flagship show of AXS TV. Summer tour dates include performances at the Bonnaroo and Common Ground festivals and a pair of Colorado shows with the Indigo Girls (8/4 & 5).

Whitmore hunted von Grey down for an interview after seeing them perform at SXSW, observing: “they blew me away…the band is an Americana masterpiece. Not gimmicky, not cutesy, just pure talent that has been honed and worked on and molded into something special.” “One listen to von Grey’s first single, ‘Coming for You,’ explains the buzz. Crystalline harmonies, stirring lyrics and inventive melodies are the calling cards of [the] siblings,” said Billboard in a recent “Scouting Report.”

LIVE AT CRIMINAL RECORDS 01.01.13 follows the band’s self-titled 2012 EP, which was recorded with GRAMMY® award-winning producer/engineer Nick DiDia (Bruce Springsteen, Train, The Gaslight Anthem). von Grey – comprising Annika (lead vocals, violin, banjo, guitar, keys), Fiona (lead vocals, guitar, violin, percussion), Petra (keys, lap steel guitar, background vocals) and Kathryn (cello, bass, mandolin, keys, background vocals) – has performed upwards of 200 shows in the past two years, from recurring residency tours at intimate venues throughout the southeastern U.S. to supporting gigs with such artists as Sarah McLachlan, Company of Thieves and Lindsey Stirling.
