Combining bluesy riffs with soaring choruses led by rasping vocals and deft guitar playing, rising British artist LION (aka Beth Lowen) is equal parts The White Stripes and Florence Welch.
2018 saw LION play The Great Escape, Dot To Dot, Reeperbahn, Latitude and Boardmasters festivals, support the likes of Albert Hammond Jr, The Vaccines, Isaac Gracie and Girli, and sell out her own headline shows at The Lexington and Camden Assembly – as well as releasing her debut EP.
For 2019, you can expect new music and live dates from the Fiction Records-signed artist who was named as one of Gigwise’s 29 Artists for 2019. LION headed to Eurosonic Festival as Steve Lamacq’s choice for BBC Introducing, having also garnered support from Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and Jack Saunders, who asked her in for a Maida Vale session. Set to be a promising year, LION also heads out on tour across the UK and Europe as main support to Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night, taking two Glasgow Barrowlands, the Eventim Apollo and back-to-back sold out dates at Brussel’s Cirque Royal in her stride.
