Bio
Prima Queen’s love story is one which cinema could only aspire to. An instant connection that was nearly missed. A divide of 4,000 miles and an Atlantic Ocean. The magic of their ethereal, guitar-driven sound is built not on romantic love, but something immeasurably stronger: female friendship.
The transatlantic duo, Louise Macphail and Kristin McFadden, create music that feels like a secret whispered between best friends – confessional, charming, and irresistibly catchy. Their journey began with a stroke of fate: a chance meeting in a London classroom pre-pandemic. McFadden, a Chicago native, found herself in the UK when her original study plans fell through. Upon meeting Macphail, the connection was instant. “Will you be in my band?” Macphail asked, and Prima Queen was born. Since then, the duo’s meteoric rise has included five BBC 6 Music playlisted singles and a critically acclaimed debut EP, Not The Baby, earning praise from NME, The Guardian, and beyond.
Their upcoming debut album The Prize is a vibrant celebration of friendship, ambition, and life’s beautiful contradictions. Described by McFadden as “an album that screams empowerment and strength,” The Prize is a testament to risk-taking, resilience, and deep creative trust. From the wry wit of “Oats” to the gut-punching vulnerability of “Ugly,” The Prize dances between light and dark, always infused with authenticity and joy.
A bold leap forward, it’s an exhilarating declaration of Prima Queen’s place in indie-pop’s bright future – music made by best friends, for anyone who’s ever believed in the power of connection and a great song.
