Punctual

Artist Bio

Punctual is Will Lansley and John Morgan, a bubbling electronic music duo with a gift for energetic, party-starting club tracks. Their October 2020 single ‘I Don’t Wanna Know’ broke the top 100 in the UK with over 30 million streams across platforms, one of many vibesy house tunes in their rapidly growing catalogue. As well as massive singles like 2020’s heavy floorfiller ‘Imagine’, Punctual have produced show-stopping remixes with Raye, Jonas Blue, Awa, Honneand Amber Mark, as well as collaborations with vocalists like Nabiha, Kid Ink and rock band Skinny Living.

Punctual kicked off in 2016 when their dazzling debut single ‘Eva’ broke through on a wave of specialist support from Zane Lowe and Apple Music’s Beats1, Radio 1’s Party Anthems and BBC DJs Pete Tong and Phil Taggart. The next five years were rammed full of highlights, such as when British pop maestro Elton John played Punctual’s 2017 heater ‘What I Love’ on his radio show, calling the track “fabulous”.

They signed with Polydor in 2020 following one-off singles or EP releases with Juicebox, Electronic Nature and RCA. In the same year they also signed with B-Unique Music Publishing, the team behind #1 songwriters Johnny McDaid, Rob Harvey, Corey Sanders, Johnny Coffer.

Outside of Punctual John and Will are prolific collaborators, having produced and written with Raye, Lovra, Justin Jesso, Jason Derulo, JP Cooper, Sleepwalkrs, Years & Years, Sigala, Banx & Ranx, Steve Aoki, Rudimental and Eli Brown. Touring has included Glastonbury, SW4, Tomorrowland and multiple UK shows including London’s Fabric and UK tours with The Avalanches and Fatboy Slim.

John and Will met as teenagers after both falling in love with music production. Growing up in Newbury, a small English town about 70 miles west of London, the pair bonded as two of the only kids in the area who were into drum and bass. Introduced by a mutual friend, they were soon making beats together on Fruity Loops, forming a partnership that would later see them DJing at clubs and house parties while at university in Bristol.

Both played musical instruments while growing up. After being bought one by his parents, Will learned to play the cornet while at primary school, though he always hated it. Eventually he learned the drums too. John played the french horn in an orchestra, but his most formative musical memory is sitting in his older brother’s bedroom begging him to play REM’s classic feel-good single ‘Shiny Happy People’ again and again. Like Will, John grew up to an eclectic soundtrack, listening to 90s rock bands like the Red Hot Chill Peppers, Nirvana, Incubus and Weezer, as well as hip-hop acts like Mos Def and A Tribe Called Quest. Both cite Radiohead among their favourite artists.

As they matured, their tastes continued to diversify. Hearing Pendulum for the first time was life-changing, inspiring both of them to try making their own drum and bass. Over time that morphed into an interest in house and techno, sounds that influenced both of them as they started DJing and developed their own signature style.

Having since played shows around the world, they are now ready to take over the global dance music scene. In 2021 they have already put out the funky house-and-R&B hybrid ‘The Step’ with Nabiha, song-of-the-summer contender ‘Smoke Ring’, and a hard-hitting remix of Truman’s ‘Alligator’. They can’t wait to get back to playing to club and festival crowds again, and next on the horizon is an album, which they say will be more experimental than their singles while promising to keep that trademark, fun-loving Punctual spirit.
