During 2020’s quarantine, Chicano Batman brought their new music to life via a socially-distant performance of their single “Color my life” for The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and an NPR Tiny Desk (Home) concert, of which NPR said, “Even as they each perform in their home music spaces, they can’t avoid bringing it all together to give us a Chicano Batman performance that grooves hard and brings a smile to our faces.” Later in the year, the band came together to perform a visually stunning audience-less concert at LA’s famed Hollywood Bowl. Watch the full concert below:

Invisible People was released in 2020 to unanimous praise from Pitchfork, NPR, Rolling Stone, The LA Times, The Fader, and many more. Produced by Leon Michaels (The Carters, A$AP Rocky, Lee Fields & the Expressions) and mixed by Grammy-winning producer/engineer Shawn Everett (Vampire Weekend, Alabama Shakes, Beck), Invisible People features Chicano Batman’s idiosyncratic blend of psych, soul, and hip-hop and their critical and conscientious examination of racism, immigration, and classism. The enchanting single “Color my life” — hailed by Rolling Stone as a “tropicalia-infused thesis on a utopian world where factors like race, gender and class do not preclude the potential for human connection and solidarity” — was accompanied by a gorgeous music video set in Los Angeles, and official live videos of “Pink Elephant” and “Color my life” feature the band’s joyful live performance, filmed at Los Angeles’ iconic Barefoot Studios, where most of Invisible People was recorded. Chicano Batman brought “Color my life” to The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’s #playathome series and appeared on Vice News Tonight’s Receiver, where they premiered their “Blank Slate” music video.
