New York, NY (July 19, 2019) – New York-based, “internet-pop” singer-songwriter chloe mk uncovers her debut EP Fantasy today.
Get it HERE via Republic Records.
Prior to the debut of the EP, chloe mk released her premiere single, “To Be Young,” a piercing look at the tsunami of depression and elation that is the mind of a young person. As it nears a half-a-million total streams in a month’s time, the track continues to garner widespread critical acclaim as well.
Nylon praised chloe mk’s style, saying it “has evolved into something totally new,” and Idolator’s critic said, “If ‘To Be Young’ is indicative of the mercurial artist’s self-coined ‘internet-pop,’ I’m very much on board.”
Other tracks on the EP include “Ride,” an up-tempo Y2K-pop driven ballad about the ultimate road trip, with her jazz-y croon building towards an echoing chant. A wall of sound suffuses “I Can’t Stop,” a track that captures all too well the unexpected earthquakes of rapidly shifting emotion, while “Praying for Me” surveys the mind-body-spirit connection. “David Bowie” at first appears to pay homage to fallen icons, but chloe flips the script: it’s really about losing a cherished relationship, and the devastating uncertainty that follows. In every song, chloe mk’s vocals, idle and shift into high gear, never failing to show power. Check out the full trasklisting below.
chloe mk reshapes the scope of pop music. The Nashville native initially cut her teeth by playing classic rock in small clubs and bars before making her way on to NBC’s The Voice. She emerged victorious on the show in 2017, inked a deal with Republic Records, and solidified her singular style.
