What the Press is Saying Elle King’s SHAKE THE SPIRIT:

“Elle King’s Raw Revelation, the singer channels real trauma into bracing retro rock….King came on like a butt-kicking rocker heroine wailing through her pain…(on her) impressive second album. The sound is vintage, a hard-won swagger is brave and brand new.”– Rolling Stone

“Elle King’s glittery gold boots were made for stompin’ and that’s just what she does on the hip-swiveling ‘Shake the Spirit,’ her sassy yet surprisingly vulnerable sophomore album….King and her tell-all tone are what elevate Shake the Spirit …to a truly cathartic talk of bad girl gone…better.” – Entertainment Weekly

“Blues, soul and 1950s roots show clearly through the tautly constructed songs.” – New York Times

“One of the Most Anticipated Albums of Fall 2018…a cathartic, rough-edged diary entry of a project that couldn’t be more personal…her most vulnerable album yet”- Billboard

[New York – October 19, 2018] Today, Three-time Grammy-nominated and platinum-selling recording artist Elle King today releases her much-anticipated, critically-heralded second studio album SHAKE THE SPIRIT via RCA Records.

In support of album release week, Elle will be performing on Good Morning America on October 23rd and Live with Kelly and Ryan on October 24th.

SHAKE THE SPIRIT is the cathartic result of a challenging, yet artistically productive period of her life.  Speaking about the album, Elle King explains: “I decided to call it ‘Shake The Spirit’ because I was shaken to the core over the last year and a half. I was literally talking to ghosts. But making the album not only changed my life, it saved my life. It’s like when you see somebody who is struggling, you want to shake them. Putting this record out is like shaking myself awake.”

Find full tour dates below.  Rolling Stone wrote of her Austin City Limits set: “Elle King is a little bit country, a little bit rock n’ roll, but ultimately, she’s punk as fuck” and from her Seven Seas Festival, she was voted “Best Badass…Her charisma and the songs’ catchiness made the set delectable.” Jon Pareles of The New York Times describes Elle as “a sassy, hard-drinking, love-’em-and-leave-’em hellion with bad tattoos and a broad pedigree across rock, pop and country. She has Adele’s determination and Joan Jett’s stomp, Brenda Lee’s high-voiced bite and some AC/DC shriek.” The Kansas City Star writes of her live show: “riveting… King growled like the rockabilly pioneer Wanda Jackson…and evoked the R&B great Etta James.” Visit www.elleking.comfor more details.

About Elle King:

Elle’s debut album Love Stuff, a sultry, badass mix of rock and roll, blues, and country, with a twinge of pop, features the breakthrough single “Ex’s & Oh’s,” which earned her two Grammy nominations and was certified double platinum. The track, about leaving behind a string of brokenhearted exes, hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Rock Songs Chart, and topped the AAA, Hot AC, and Alternative Radio charts, leading King to become the second female artist in 18 years to reach No. 1 at the latter format.  She was also featured on Dierks Bentley’s Grammy-nominated No. 1 Country Airplay hit “Different For Girls” (she performed it with Bentley at the CMA Awards and took home an award for “Musical Event of the Year”). King also performed for President Obama in honor of Mavis Staples at the 2016 Kennedy Center Honors.   With her latest single “Shame” featured on her just released album SHAKE THE SPIRIT, King triumphantly topped the Triple A Radio chart at #1 for a second week in a row. With her fourth radio #1 single “Shame,” Elle becomes the only act in history to have scored #1s on all 4 radio formats —  breakthrough single “Ex’s & Oh’s” scored #1 on the Alternative Songs & Adult Pop Songs charts, and her Grammy-nominated, CMA-winning collaboration with Dierks Bentley “Different For Girls” topped the Country Radio Airplay chart.   READ the Billboard chart story here.
