Jessica Winter’s debut EP, SAD MUSIC is released today on Roya (a division of Warp Records)

May 22, 2020

Jessica as a visionary new artist who effortlessly blends timeless pop music with contemporary electronic influences. Jessica has proved herself one of the most exciting new artists of 2020 with Sad Music’s singles, the statement of intent first single ‘Play’, synth-led banger ‘Chasing Nightmares’  and the glitchy, dancefloor-ready ‘Sad Music’, which marries a huge chorus with an irresistible pulsing melody. Jessica’s debut EP Sad Music showcases Jessica’s ability to juxtapose light melody with heavy synths and navigate through genres effortlessly. So far in 2020, Jessica has received support from the likes of Dazed, Crack, Clash, two Track of the Day from Line of Best Fit, Gigwise, Matt Wilkinson at Beats 1, and Jack Saunders’ ‘Next Wave’, Huw Stephens and Annie Mac at BBC Radio 1.

Sad Music features Jason Cooper from The Cure on drums on ‘World On Fire’, with additional saxophone from Alex White of Fat White Family, who also plays sax on ‘Sad Music’. ‘The Other’ is produced by Jonathan Snipes of Clipping, and helping with the finishing touches on mixing duties is label mate Redinho.

As well as releasing her own music Jess has been producing Remi Kabaka of Gorillaz on his solo project, Polish double platinum artist, Brodka, plus working very closely with Jazmin Bean on her up-coming album. The first track Jess and Jazmin wrote, Saccharine, currently has over 11 million views on Youtube.

Jess also runs a night of music and art called Hate The Haus, which was selling out venues since 2018 and has now found a new home online, raising money for local aid groups tackling Covid-19. Bringing together an eclectic mix of acts, Hate The Haus runs events to promote and support philanthropic organisations, XR, pro-choice, women’s rights, Lesbians and Gays Support The Migrants and Women on Waves.
