Kasbo Announces Highly Anticipated New Album ‘The Learning of Urgency’

Swedish DJ/Producer’s Third Studio Album Out June 7 via ODESZA’s Foreign Family Collective Label
Two New Singles, “Atlantis (feat. Shallou & BJOERN)” and “Drift,” Out Now

On Thursday, February 29th Kasbo announced his first new body of work in four years, ‘The Learning of Urgency’. The project is Kasbo’s third studio album to date and will arrive via ODESZA’s revered Foreign Family Collective label on June 7. Along with the news comes two brand new singles, “Drift” and “Atlantis,” the latter featuring  Shallou and Swedish singer BJOERN.

“My new album is inspired by the feeling of being submerged in water. Underwater, the world moves slowly, sounds fade, and there’s this feeling of stillness. To me, there was this direct relation to being on a stormy ocean surface, trying desperately to keep your head above water. Whereas the world beneath the surface represented this stillness where you allowed yourself to move at a slower pace and appreciate the beauty of things around you. And sure, as much as you need to move forward and build something in life, you also need to swim up to the surface and take that next breath. I think it’s important not to let that thought consume us and prevent us from appreciating those moments of tranquility underwater.”

Since their release on Thursday, the singles have been featured on key New Music Friday playlists like New Music Friday Dance, New Music Friday Sweden, New Music Friday Norway, and more alongside releases from Martin Garrix, Diplo and Charli XCX. Furthermore, it was added to Spotify’s Chill Tracks, Electronic Rising, Oyster with the #10 position,Emotional Dance with the #7 position, Midnight Chill, mint Japan, and Beats of Tomorrow with the #5 position. Additional third party playlisting came in from Proximity, Colorize, Anjunadeep, Eric Alper, Brownies & Lemonade, Dancing Astronaut, Ministry of Sound, Ophelia, EDM Charts, Heartbeat Music, Rudeejay, Robby East, Liliya Mazur, 1st Strike, Space Network, and more.

Apple Music has supported the release across their Electronic and Dance editorial spaces. “Atlantis” has been added to Apple Music’s Chill House (WW) and A-List Pop (SW). Off the back of a secured Song Starter promotion, the track is featured on Apple Music’s Electronic Pop at the #5 position. Additional new release playlists include Breaking Dance (WW), New in Dance (WW), New Music Daily and New in Electronic.

Amazon Music has Kasbo gracing the cover of their Electronic Feels (WW) with the #1 position. It is also featured on their Brand New Music playlist. YouTube Music added the track to their New Dance Friday playlist, and similar SEA DSP Support has come in on KKBOX’s Latest Electronic. Third party YouTube support include features from Proximity, UNCVRD, and SongWave. The release has been on rotation with Sirius XM since release and Kasbo is now gracing the cover of TikTok Music’s Mellorganic – their flagship indie electronic playlist.

For Kasbo, ‘The Learning of Urgency’ is an extremely important concept. The songwriting orbits around slowing down, as the past few years of his life have been ridden with a sense of acute pressure, manifesting into a subconscious compulsion to constantly achieve and do more. The result nearly cost him his career, as he developed rare, stress-related hearing loss. The natural slowdown of the pandemic put these stressors into perspective, and through addressing them, he was able to get back on track, personally and professionally, and write this new album.
