June 2nd, 2023 – Acclaimed singer-songwriter Katelyn Tarver is set to captivate audiences once again with her highly anticipated single, “Starting to Scare Me” and its accompanying music video directed by Skyler Brown (Ethel Cain, Royal & The Serpent). The single marks an exciting new chapter in Tarver’s career, coinciding with her signing announcement to Nettwerk. Additionally, the release sets the stage for Tarver’s upcoming headlining tour, commencing on September 6th in San Francisco, and the reveal of her forthcoming sophomore album slated for early 2024.

“Starting to Scare Me” delves into the vulnerable depths of Tarver’s introspection, offering a raw and honest exploration of detrimental tendencies. The track confronts the allure of indulging in harmful behavior as a temporary escape, rather than confronting the underlying causes head-on. Tarver, known for her poignant lyricism and emotive vocals, examines her personal journey of evasion and acceptance. Sonically, the track graces the edges of nostalgia, recalling 90s influences that propel pulsing guitars and memorable hooks to the forefront.

Katelyn Tarver shares this about “Starting to Scare Me,”

“This song is about indulging in self-destructive behavior because it’s easier than doing the work of looking underneath it to try and figure out what’s causing it in the first place. I’ve spent a lot of time running from my darker impulses, pushing them down, pretending they’re not there… this song is about shining a spotlight on them and kind of liking the feeling even though it… well… uh… scares me.”

The release of “Starting to Scare Me” coincides with Tarver’s 21-date North American headlining tour announcement across various major cities beginning September 6th. Fellow Nettwerk pop artist Rosie Darling as well as Australian singer-songwriter Jack Gray will support on select dates. Katelyn Tarver will follow-up with a 12-date European headlining tour in November. No stranger to live performances as she has supported the likes of James Bay, Michelle Branch, Johnnyswim, and Nina Nesbitt, this is Katelyn’s first ever headlining tour which is set to showcase her magnetic stage presence and scope of her musical prowess.

As anticipation builds for her upcoming album, set to be unveiled in early 2024, Katelyn Tarver’s unwavering dedication to authentic storytelling and introspection will be on full display with more exciting new music throughout the year.

Katelyn Tarver grew up in Glennville GA, a quiet rural town with a population of just over 3,000 where her family owned a local candy business. Always a music lover she began performing in local & national talent competitions, one of which, American Juniors, led to her first US tour and a move to LA at 19-years-old.

Over the years, Katelyn has earned success with her songs amassing over 200 million streams, led by her viral hit “You Don’t Know.” She has an impressive resume of songwriting credits, having co-written Cheryl Cole’s #1 Single “Crazy Stupid Love” and Old Dominion’s single “Young,” which was a winning track on NBC’s Songland. She’s also built a stellar acting resume, appearing in shows like HBO’s “Ballers,” ABC Family’s “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” and Nickelodeon’s “Big Time Rush.”

Following a string of single releases and a few EPs, Tarver issued her first full-length album Subject To Change in the fall of 2021 receiving acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone, NPR, SPIN, Consequence, FLAUNT, American Songwriter, and more. She was featured as the cover artist for Spotify’s star-making “Chill Pop” playlist and had multiple tracks placed in the pole positions across Apple Music playlists. With her radiant voice and soul-baring songwriting, Subject To Change had defined a bold new era in her musical evolution, setting her exacting self-reflection to a gorgeously nuanced sound and delivering a finespun brand of indie-pop that is both intensely vulnerable and powerfully cathartic.

With her unique ability to translate complex emotions into resonant melodies, Katelyn Tarver has established herself as an artist who fearlessly explores the depths of the human experience. Having recently signed a new record deal with Nettwerk, Tarver’s forthcoming music will exhibit her remarkable growth as an artist, with a compelling sound that intertwines self-exploration and self-examination.
