KEAN KAVANAGH RETURNS WITH BEAUTIFUL NEW SINGLE “SUMMER NIGHTS” + 2 SOLD OUT HEADLINE SHOWS

October 4, 2021

Kean Kavanagh has returned, with his beautiful new single “Summer Nights” – a hazy and dream-like offering that shrouds the listener in an oxymoronic calm euphoria before building into a triumphant state of acceptance. Speaking on the single, Kean states:

“I wrote this song about a recurring dream I was having the past year, and it was kind of disturbing me so I wrote and recorded the song to try and change the way that I associate with it.”

“I wrote and recorded most of the instruments myself and then I got Ryan Hargadon in at the end to record some additional synths and some sax to finish it off.”

A therapeutic and cathartic single, “Summer Nights” lands in the wake of last year’s Dog Person project – a 10-track collection of tracks that explores melancholy, humour and the mundanity of life, with Kean’s tongue planted firmly in his cheek along the way.

Fans will remember the delectable “Roll Over!”, as well as the troublesome tale of “EMMA”, both of which served to prove that Kean Kavanagh had firmly stepped into the limelight; garnering support from the likes of i-D, DIY Magazine, Clash, Notion and more.

Cofounder, producer and A&R of Irish Label Soft Boy Records, Kean had previously pulled the strings behind the scenes; but is now becoming one of the most exciting names on the emerging music scene. A story-teller, word-smith and dexterous musician with a strong imagination, Kean’s career is set to project far beyond his Irish roots… with credits across Soft Boy Records co-founder Kojaque’s ‘Town’s Dead’ album and also recently playing on stage with Kojaque at All Points East festival.

Founded in 2015, Soft Boy Records morphed into a cultural behemoth that gripped the Irish music scene and has refused to let go. Kean found himself sharing stages with big names such as Slowthai and Lana Del Ray, as well as his consequential solo-slots opening for Maverick Sabre and Vampire Weekend.

Last year, Kean appeared on the Everything is Recorded project ‘FRIDAY FOREVER’, (curated by Richard Russell of XL Recordings) alongside Aitch, Flohio, Maria Somerville, Ghostface Killah and others, and aligning himself with a tastemaker and hot tipped selection of musical peers.

A sensational return, “Summer Nights” marks the promise of more new material from this exceptional young talent.

Kean will play two headline shows this December:
