Louis The Child & Icona Pop Team Up On New Single “Weekend”

July 1, 2016

International award-winning Swedish duo Icona Pop return with a hot new collaborative dance track with forward thinking Chicago-based production duo Louis The Child (+ remixes). With its laid back, sunny vibe, “Weekend” (Big Beat Records) breaks all the rules of a traditional dance tune creating a new benchmark for dance/pop crossover music. “Weekend” is your new tune for seven days out of the week, it’s a feel good ballad and universal dance anthem for summer.

“We work hard and play hard, we are constantly jet lagged and we do things at weird times. This song is about our beautiful chaos that we think a lot of people can relate to.”Icona Pop

Since hitting the scene in 2012 with their triple platinum hit single, “I Love It ft. Charli XCX,” Aino Jawo and Caroline Hjelt have become household names, Icona Pop. The two duos may have come from different worlds of dance music; one leaning towards pop sensibilities, and the other towards the future-forward underground, but the foursome hit their stride in proper form on “Weekend.” Turning out a sound of pop meets progressive made for all types of dance music listeners.

On the other hand, in just over a year, Louis The Child have exploded onto the music scene in a way that few could predict. The duo consisting of Robby Hauldren and Freddy Kennet have racked up over 50 million streams across streaming platforms. After a string of highly successful remixes for the likes of Ty Dolla $ign, Kaskade & more, Louis The Child quickly transitioned out of remix territory with their debut single ‘It’s Strange’, which got two thumbs up from Superstar Taylor Swift.

“The idea for this song was started on a cruise ship, developed in an airport, and finished with a bunch of friends in the studio.  Music is a non-stop lifestyle.”Louis The Child

“Weekend” is out now on Big Beat Records and is a monumental moment for the two artist groups, as they present their dynamic collaboration to the world. We’d be surprised if you don’t find yourself reaching for the repeat button.
