Friday 22nd March, Nashville-based singer-songwriter meg elsier releases her new single, ‘oldnews’. It is the fifth single taken from her upcoming debut album, spittake, which is set for release Summer 2024. Accompanying the single release is a music visualiser, which is available to watch below.

‘oldnews’ follows the releases of ‘ifshitfuq’, ‘iznotreal’, ‘baby’, and ‘forlyleinsanfrancisco’, which were released between September 2023 and February 2024.
On ‘oldnews’, meg elsier enlists grungy guitars and weighty production and combines it with her sumptuous vocals and electronic stylings to create a harmonious balance of indie-rock aesthetics and alt-pop undertones. It perfectly demonstrates her versatility as an artist who can traverse the worlds of indie rock, folk, and alt-pop in equal measures.

“This song is the feeling you get when you realize you’ve been telling the same stories over and over to the point that strangers know the punch lines and you’re too scared to risk anything to make new ones. It’s the frustration you get when you tether between blaming others and blaming yourself to the point that you’re just paralyzed. It’s the phrase “over&over” but as a song. The song has these deep pounding sounds that just drive the point into your head and your gut.”
