MIAMI’S HYBRID-ORCHESTRA NU DECO ENSEMBLE ANNOUNCES SEASON 8 PROGRAM Featuring Angelique Kidjo, Wyclef Jean, X Ambassadors, Lawrence, Monsieur Perine and Derrick Hodge



September 12, 2022 – Miami’s 21st century chamber orchestra Nu Deco Ensemble, led by Jacomo Bairos and Sam Hyken, announce their expanded 8th Season to include a debut at the iconic Colony Theater, returns to the Miami Beach Bandshell, and a deepening of their artistic partnership with the Adrienne Arsht Center.  This season Nu Deco Ensemble presents new and dynamic original compositions, 21st-century orchestral classics, eclectic living composers, and re-imaginations of iconic albums by Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, the Beatles and Lauryn Hill.
“In what perhaps is our most ambitious season yet, we are excited to present a dynamic program which includes the music of some of today’s most exciting composers and artists, performances and new explorations of some of the great music of the 20th century, and an expansion our musical voice through new original compositions by the ensemble”, says Sam Hyken, Nu Deco CEO, Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director.
Nu Deco Ensemble’s innovative, genre-bending sound will be highlighted through unique collaborations and a wide range of musical styles. They are honored to welcome back past GRAMMY winning collaborators Wyclef Jean, Angelique Kidjo, and Monsieur Perine , while collaborating with new guests X Ambassadors, Lawrence, as well as premiering a newly commissioned work by bassist and composer Derrick Hodge.
“Sam and I are thrilled to be welcoming back so many of our award winning friends, not only to dive deeper into their catalog, but to broaden the scope of our collaborations while creating new musical highs grounded in the relationships we have created the past 7 seasons”, says Nu Deco Conductor, Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director, Jacomo Bairos.
These virtuosic and award winning artists combined with Nu Deco Ensemble musicians will celebrate an eclectic variety of sounds, styles  and cultures. Season 8 is set to kick off October 7th at the Colony Theatre and concludes April 28th, 2023 at the Adrienne Arsht Center.

Since its inception in 2015, Nu Deco Ensemble has exploded onto Miami’s eclectic musical scene captivating audiences, holistically engaging with its community and fusing innovative, genre-bending orchestral performances and collaborations with the highest levels of musical artistry. Including their self titled debut album produced by long time collaborator Kishi Bashi, Nu Deco has released 7 Albums since 2019 with artists such as Luke James, Aaron Parks, Cimafunk, and Larkin Poe whose album “Paint the Roses” reached #2 for Classical Crossover on the Billboard charts. Nu Deco ensemble has amassed over 4 million streams on Spotify, being featured on playlists such as The Sweet Suite and Blues Live and Loud, and has received over 3 million total views on Youtube. The New York Times has hailed Nu Deco Ensemble as a “Chamber orchestra for the 21st century”, Billboard has announced them as “Sonically Spellbinding” and Saratoga Living exclaimed them as “fiery, captivating and refreshingly original”.
Nu Deco Ensemble engages the Miami community in dynamic ways to serve and enrich all walks of our diverse culture and people. The orchestra inspires and engages over 10,000 children annually through their interactive Imagination Series and annually brings hundreds of community members from underserved communities to attend performances. In Spring of 2020, Nu Deco Ensemble launched its youth ensemble which in addition to instruction in classical and popular musical styles, arranging, composition, and improvisation offers coaching in wellness, health, leadership, collaborative communication, interpersonal skills, and community stewardship
