This week Mysie released her first new music for 2020 in the shape of ‘Gift’.

The Line of Best Fit made it ‘Song of The Day’ writing “The sky’s the limit for South London’s Mysie I Mysie has forged a limitless room for creativity that shines through on her new single, Gift”.

Wickedd Childd in Australia said “Each time you press play on a track by Mysie, expect to be pulled into another world and ‘Gift’ is absolutely no exception.

Dork call the track “another soaring statement of intent” and The Most Radicalist described Mysie as “making accomplished pop music that speaks from its heart”.

The track’s been added to Apple Music’s New Music Daily (at #9) as well as Mellow Days.

Simmering, emotive synths and laid-back jazz-flecked percussion set the stage for the new cut, once again perfectly tied together by Mysie’s dextrous, deep vocal delivery and heart-breaking lyrics that perfectly evoke the pain of realising you’re in a controlling relationship. Mysie added some background to the meaning behind the song; “Gift is about realising that someone in your life is puppeteering you. Saying what you want to hear in order to manipulate or oppress you. You’ve given up too much and now you need to get out.”

‘Gift’ follows a groundswell of support for her debut EP ‘Chapter 11’ and most recent singles  ‘Sweet Relief’ and ‘Heartbeat’ landing Mysie radio coverage from 6 Music, Radio X & Radio 1’s Phil Taggart & Huw Stephens. Continuous praise has come from an array of tastemakers too, including Hunger, The Line Of Best Fit, Clash, NME, Dork, Notion, TMRW & The Independent who included her in their tips for 2020.

Mysie’s creative prowess continues to blossom, with every track accompanied by a bold video and Mysie at the forefront of every narrative. Filmed whilst in lockdown, ‘Gift’ is no exception and can be watched here.

As Mysie continues to release more new music into the summer, she’s also – along with everyone else – been finding new ways of performing live throughout Lockdown.  Having missed out on her debut performance atThe Great Escape and other festivals this summer, she’s continued to perform live, stripped back to just her incredible voice and piano, via her Instagram Page

Focused on the freedom music provides and rejecting the genres and stereotypes its industry seeks to enforce, Mysie is one without limits and most certainly one to watch.
