O.A.R. MARK 20th ANNIVERSARY WITH “XX,” CAREER SPANNING COLLECTION OUT AUGUST 5TH
August 3, 2016
U.S. TOUR KICKS OFF TODAY, AUGUST 3RD IN BUFFALO, NY
Band marks celebration with appearance on NBC’s The Today Show plus Howard Stern Special
August 3, 2016 – Marking two decades of making records and playing sold-out concerts around the world since the band was founded in 1996 in Rockville, Maryland, O.A.R.(….of a revolution) — primary songwriter Marc Roberge, drummer Chris Culos, guitarist Richard On, bassist Benj Gershman and saxophonist/guitarist Jerry DePizzo –
release their new 24 track, half studio, half live collection XX, via Vanguard Records, this Friday, August 5th. The career-spanning collection of O.A.R.’s biggest hits and select live performances features two new songs: “Follow Me, Follow You” and the lead single “I Go Through” which the band performed on the Today Show last week. As Roberge told Today Show host Hoda Kolb before launching into the song, “When we were coming up with the idea for the album, I looked at my kids and I realized I have one responsibility in the world to them… to move forward. Be an example to them. The song’s about not standing still, especially now in the climate we’re in.” Later in the show, the band returned to perform their smash hit “Shattered”.

This Friday, August 5th the band will be featured in a special live performance as part of “Howard Stern Presents: O.A.R.” on Sirius XM’s Howard101 channel at 8:00pm PT / 11:00pm ET and repeating all weekend.
The creation of “I Go Through” was documented in the new Qello Concerts web series Evolution of a Song, a weekly six episode series centered on revealing the hidden process of songwriting, from the initial idea to the finished track, with music fans getting a behind-the-scenes look as the process unfolds. The six-chapter piece can be viewed on www.qello.com.
With lyrics like “You go around and around it/Go over and under/But I go through,” set to the propulsive rocker, O.A.R. have created yet another anthem alongside such fan favorites as “Heaven,” “Peace,” “Two Hands Up” and “Shattered,” all included on disc one of the collection.
XX is neither a career culmination nor a conventional greatest-hits album; rather, it’s a sizing up, a series of aural snapshots on a continuing journey. Roberge views O.A.R.’s evolution as a series of stepping stones—he refers to this zigzagging movement as “island-hopping”—and each of the songs on XX represents a moment of significance for the band members and for their devoted fans.
O.A.R. embark on their 2016 XX Tour: Evolution of a Revolution, a national summer headline jaunt which includes 30 + dates, starting today, August 3rd at the Artpark in Buffalo, N.Y., with additional stops at Coney Island Amphitheater in Brooklyn, N.Y.
