Odesza Has Been Nominated For Pollstar’s Best New Touring Artist

November 6, 2015

(Pollstar – November 6, 2015) – When Harrison Mills (CatacombKid) and Clayton Knight (BeachesBeaches) met through a mutual friend, it was the spark that led to forming Odesza, a powerhouse EDM act that can sound beautiful and dreamlike as well as powerful and engaging.

The Seattle-based group started grabbing underground attention with debut album Summer’s Gone in 2012.

The act also got the attention of Windish Agency’s Jay Moss more than once.

Odesza

“I first heard about Odesza back in October 2012. A promoter friend, Austin Santiago, in Bellingham, Wash., suggested them as a potential local, first-of-three support idea on a show of mine at The Wild Buffalo. I was familiar with Harrison and Clay as individual producers, but that was the first I’d heard of Odesza.”

Soon Odesza’s manager, Adam Foley of Red Light Management, sent Moss Summer’s Gone.

“I listened to it four times in a row. It was the perfect amalgamation of everything I was listening to and working with at the time, but had its own characteristic sound that was uniquely Odesza.  I knew immediately that they were an artist I wanted to work with,” he said.

Tours with Emancipator and Pretty Lights as well as the release of 2013’s My Friends Never Die EP and 2014’s In Return have continued to attract crowds.

Odesza’s live show, which sells out venues on a regular basis, has since included singers and a horn section. This year’s Coachella set featured members of the University of Southern California Marching Band’s drum line, so anything’s possible.

“Since their very first headline tour back in March/April 2014 they have incredibly sold out almost every single show they’ve played,” Moss said. “I think people keep coming out in droves to see them because the live show is so engaging and interesting. There just isn’t anything else quite like it in electronic music right now.”
