Orlando Weeks has unveiled ‘Blood Sugar’, the second track from his forthcoming debut solo album, ‘A Quickening’. An album rooted deeply in the experience of becoming a father for the first time.

The news comes following the launch of his solo career with ‘Safe In Sound’, a track that continues a run on the A-list at BBC 6 Music this week, and inspired comparisons with the likes of The Blue Nile and Talk Talk, selling out London’s prestigious EartH as part of a triumphant UK tour in the process.

Weeks spent much of his young life as the frontman of Ivor Novello winning band The Maccabees, going on to become a children’s book author and illustrator in the wake of the band’s disbanding. His first book, The Gritterman, was published by Penguin in 2017. ‘A Quickening’ will be Weeks’ first record in his own name.

Ongoing coverage from today’s release included a brilliant lead feature with The Line of Best Fit (read here), as well as a homepage feature with NME (read here).
