Travis Denning Shares His Musical Journey With ‘Country Now’

August 13, 2019

As Mercury Nashville’s Travis Denning cracks the top 40 with his latest single, “After A Few,” the Georgia native is looking back on his humble beginnings with Country Now.

Denning recently shared the story of his musical journey with the online publication, revealing how listening to AC/DC changed his life forever and explaining how he went from playing heavy metal to writing and recording hit country songs.

Denning also opened up about “After Few” and shared why he chose to hang on to the song for so long.

“‘After a Few’ was one of those songs that I wrote before I had a record deal. When you’re writing songs and making rent and beer money on writing songs, you want to pitch a song like this to Luke Bryan or Blake Shelton or whoever,” he shared. “That was one of those songs where I wrote it and wanted to pitch it, but I was on the cusp of getting a record deal and I loved ‘After a Few’ so much that we eventually made the decision to hold on to it. That was one of the first songs that we did that with.”
