What do a former NASA technician, cabaret-infused jazz melodies and fake animal tails have in common? Many would argue not much, but Rhode Island outfit Arc Iris has welded the three together to create a whimsical collaboration of sound and sight. The band has released their video for “Singing So Sweetly,” directed and animated by Anne Beal, to celebrate their debut album coming this spring.

Fronted by former vocalist/multi-instrumentalist of The Low Anthem, Jocie Adams–the one-time NASA employee–applies her spectrum of talents to create this layered offering. Cello, trumpet, pedal steel and piano swirl together to bring dynamic energy and more than a hint of quirk to the stage (cue animal tails).

Arc Iris’s self-titled debut album drops on April 1st. If you’re seriously digging “Singing So Sweetly,” head to Arc Iris’ Facebook page to get a free download of the track!
