Joseph Announces Fall Headline Tour
June 27, 2017
Joseph will kick off a fall headline tour on September 13 at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. The run will include a September 15 show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY and wrap up with a concert at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre on October 13. A Spotify ticket pre-sale begins on Wednesday, June 28, at Noon ET. Tickets go on sale to the general public this Friday, June 30, at 10 AM local time at http://smarturl.it/josephtour. The trio of sisters will also perform at numerous 2017 festivals, including Newport Folk, Osheaga, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Bumbershoot and Austin City Limits. See below for itinerary.
The band recently wrapped up a spring North America headline trek and a series of Pacific Northwest dates with Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. At Bonnaroo, Joseph performed for a packed crowd at That Tent and joined Chance the Rapper and others during the festival’s signature event, the Superjam. NO DEPRESSION observed, “Joseph features the kind of tight vocal harmonies you only find in sibling groups and songs like ‘S.O.S. (Overboard)’ made great use of the sisters’ perfectly interlocking vocals. But what truly makes Joseph special is that anytime you see them there’s a vibe of absolute joy that can’t be faked.”
That sense of rapture comes across in Joseph’s recent Citi Concert Series performance for NBC’s “TODAY.” Watch as sisters Natalie Schepman, Allison Closner and Meegan Closner perform a stripped-down acoustic version of “White Flag” HERE.
The single, which climbed to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Adult Alternative Songs chart, is from the band’s latest album, I’m Alone, No You’re Not (ATO Records). Produced by Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Jenny Lewis), the album spent two weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart and was voted as one of 2016’s top albums by NPR listeners. Cumulative streams for the album’s tracks now surpass 18 million on Spotify. “White Flag” has more than 10 million streams on Spotify and streams for the Top 20 AAA hit “SOS (Overboard)” now exceed four million.
The trio’s name is a nod to the sisters’ grandfather Jo and the tiny Oregon town where he lived. In addition to the recent “TODAY” appearance, Joseph has performed on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “Conan,” “CBS This Morning Saturday,” “Later…with Jools Holland” and NPR’s “Tiny Desk Concert.”
PAPER praised Joseph’s “dark folk-pop that will make you cry (in the best, most cathartic way possible).” BUST observed, “Joseph has certainly arrived, and this is one sister act whose talent will stand the test of time.”
